Since Japanese weddings are expensive, do you think having a massive wedding like Korea or UAE is a good idea? Eloping? Having it in a foreign location like Hawaii? What is your ideal wedding? What would you definitely do or wear or go to on that big day? Why is that important?

I have no preference. So I think good that people are give their blessing to my marriage. If my parents object about my wedding, I talk them into marrying till they agree. It's my ideal wedding. And I want to wear some dresses. For example, the pure white dress, the pink that is my favorite color dress and the white kimono. The marrying is in my life and I want to get satisfaction about wedding. It's important thing to get marry for me because the marrying is first event with someone for life.

Homework#5

We talked about many superstitions in many countries,
but do you think it is important to talk about them? Why?Is communication affected by superstitions?
Do you believe in Japanese superstitions? If so, what superstitions, what do they mean and why do you do,use, or believe in them?

I talked about German superstitions last time. It's similar superstitions between Germany and Japan. German seem to believe some superstitions. But, I don't think it's important to talk it. It's good to talk on the boards and it's not good to die hard about supestitions. So I don't think good to come too much under the influence of superstitions.

Next, I believe in Japanese superstitions. For Example, when I see a hearse, I clench my fusts tightly to hide my thumbs. If I don't hide my thumbs, I'm with my parents when they pass away. I can't accept this supestition. But I think in case of emergency and I'll hide my thumbs.

Homework#4

Today we talked about time in different societies and the English words associated with them. For homework, answer the following question:The English language has many proverbs and sayings about time.

1. Time is money.

I think it's important thing in my life. When I had a lost time on weekend, I felt regret. For example, I always spend at home on weekend. And, I slept or wasted most of my time doing nothing real serious. If nothing is done, I crock. So, I try to go to culture lesson or bedrock beth for beauty. I don't get back a lost time and I should use value time.

2.A stitch in time saves nine.

In my opinion, it's important thing. But I can't do it. If I schedule in advance to study, I don't need to feel heat deadline eve. I always regret. I don't know what I should do. I wonder how I can after this.

3.There's no time like the present.

I'm not so bat at taking my chance. I get what you want and pay careful attention to someone. But, I have procresting personarity. So I hesitate when I'm in love with someone. I might miss a chance about it.

4. Fashionable late.

I think that it's not good to judge of people by their appearances. I see good that someone keeps their individuality. But, it's important to get a good sence of fashion. For example, it's not good that someone wear a outer cloth with a flower pattern and a checked skirt. It's nonsencial fashion. I don't want someone who have poor taste to go shopping.

Homework#3

Today we discussed the language of clothes. After listening to the lecture and the meaning of colors in clothing, answer the following questions:

1. Do you judge people according to what they wear? Why?

A.I don't like to judge only outside but I sometimes judge first impressions. I think that first impressions are the most lasting. I'm often told from my boss that you should give service with a smile because my boss know that smiles make a good impression on guests. And, I know that sensitive about my appearance will be good for making a first impression. So in my opinion, research has not shown that we judge outside but it's bad to see only outside.

2.Do you think Japanese society puts an importance on clothing when judging other people from another country?

A.No,I don't. I think Japanese are more smart dresser than foreigner but we have a yen for foreigner. So we like them to their mood and character. Foreigner have a different thing from Japanese. In my opinion, it's important that how someone feel to see foreigner's mood and emotion.

3.What colors are you wearing now?Do they reflect your mood?

A.I'm wearing a purple parka and black pants right now. It doesn't reflect my mood. Easy-to-wear is most important for me. So I wear without reference to colors. But I sometimes choose the light colors that I can look sweet to wear when I meet boyfriend.

Next week we will discuss friends, please prepare by answering the following questions:

1. What are some subjects that you will never discuss with a friend?

A.I talk about many topics with my friends. But I don't ask my friends about my problems. I can express my opinion and they never think that I don't get a bee under my blanket for them. But that's not to say that I hate to say it. I don't know exactly when to talk to them about my problem. So I try to talk it.

2.Do you have different friends for different parts of your life? If so, how are they different to you? Do you talk about different things? Go to different places? Give me some examples.

A.Of course, yes I do. We have different parts each and all. I have a friend when I was a high school student. She likes to wear punk style and gothic lolita style. So when I go shopping with her who is wearing it, people stare at us out of novelty. But we take no thought it and we don't need to get up tight. I assume that we have different parts each and all because we don't live the same place, we don't the same spot for working.

Homework#2

1.Death and Funerals:

a. Do you have any international friends or a host family? If so, how would you express your condolences to them if a family member died? If not, then how would you express consolences to an American host family if their Grandmother died?

A:No, I don't. But when I was high school student, I went to foreign country for school trip. Then I stayed foreigner's house for 4 days. If my family or friend died, I don't want others to say confort and cheer. It makes me even sadder. So, I'll tell them that "I hope you will accept my sincere consolences." I think that we doesn't need to say emotional word.

b:Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?

A:No, I have never been to there.

2. The language of Clothes (preparation for next weeks topic):

a.Why are Japanese designer label crazy? Why is what you wear so important?

A:Because they have unique ideas. Their ideas sometimes couldn't understand us. Japanese lose access to person who has different values from them. Also, I think that around peple could see me who is good-looking.

b:What does "Don't judge a book by it's cover." mean to you?

A:I think that if I go to book store, I don't only watch book covers but also should check contents of books. Because I couldn't know inside a book. So When we get along with someone, we don't must go by appearances. We can't judge someone until we have walked a mile in his or her shoes.

Homework #1

1. Reflecting about today's class:
Today we discussed the Japanese concept of "wrapping". Do you agree with the web site's description? What do you do that can be called "wrapping"? Give examples and reasons for your actions.

Q:Do you agree with the web site's description?

A:Yes, I agree with this part. In Japan, there is a word "Honne to Tatemae". This means appearance and reality. When we talk with someone, we say sometimes thing that we don't mean. For example, I have a part time job. I was asked store maneger "Please work today." On the day, I was free and I didn't want to work. But I couldn't say no. So I have to go to a part time job. Japanese often say thing that they least think. And, they put up a front.

Q:What do you that can be called"wrapping"?

A:Japanese usually use "Gift Wrapping." But, I think that we don't tell someone what we mean straight out, too. To not say a word is wrapping our opinion.

2. Preparation for the next class "Death and Funerals" Answer these questions in your blog;a. Where do you go when you die?b. Explain why do Japanese have death memorial services 1 month, 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc. after a person's death?

a:Where do you go when you die?

A:I believe in heaven. So if I die, I ascend to heaven. Maybe, most people think go to heaven if they do good deeds during a lifetime. But we don't know where and how is heaven. Because, we have never died. Even so, we believe in life after death and I think that it's romantic notion.

b:Explain why do Japanese have death memorial services 1 month, 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc. after a person's death?

A:A lot of Japanese profess Buddhism. I wonder if there are some regulations of Buddhism. Also christian periodically hold a memorial service for death 3 days, 7 days, 1 month, 10 years, 20 years. I think that holding death memorial services is we don't forget memories with person who died.
